Great Food, Great Music, and a Vibrant yet "Chill" City...
March 31 - April 4, 2014
We stayed at "Hotel Austin" in South Congress. It was a 'kitschy' hotel in a great location! |
We could walk to multiple coffee shops, food trucks, restaurants, clothing boutiques, bars, and music venues right down the street or neighboring our hotel. |
3.31.14- Our first night out we walked downtown along the Congress Bridge and noticed a large crowd |
They were all waiting to see the famous 1.5 million Mexican Free Tail Bats emerge from under the bridge at dusk |
I couldn't capture the bats with my camera but there were a ton of bats flying above us as captured in this photo |
4.1.14 - Our first full day we toured the city with "B-cycle" bikes |
Stopped at Barton Springs Pool |
It was a great way to cool off on the mid 80 degree day |
Road around The University of Texas |
Stopped at 'Rainey Street District' a neat city transformation where old bungalows have been fixed up and turned into bars with food trucks |
4.2.14 - We drove out to 'Hill Country' and saw the Longhorn Caverns |
4.2.14- Mt. Bonnell 'mini' hike |
4.2.14 - We saw "Southern Culture on the Skids" (a rockabilly band) play at the Continental Club |
4.3.14 - The first Thursday of the month S. Congress brings multiple bands in to come and play at different venues |
4.4.14 - we took a few great runs along the Lady Bird Lake Trail |
4.4.14 - Last relaxing reading spot before leaving |
Great vacation! |
